A Contemplative Approach to Wellbeing

For many people, meditation can feel difficult — the mind is busy, the body is restless, and stillness can feel out of reach. Rooted in the understanding that wellbeing is cultivated through presence, embodiment, and inner listening, Ying’s work offers another way into stillness — through sound, movement, breath, and body-based awareness — helping the nervous system settle, the mind soften, and the body return to its natural capacity for rest and presence.

Her Journey

Born in China and later immigrating to the United States, Ying’s early experiences navigating different cultures sparked a lifelong exploration of identity, healing, and human wellbeing.

Her path led her to study Philosophy at Wellesley College and Anthropology/Tibetan Studies at the University of Virginia, followed by years of travel and study across Asia, Europe, and the United States. Along the way, she immersed herself in movement practices, meditation, sound healing, contemplative traditions, and holistic approaches to wellbeing.

Through both personal experience and decades of practice, she came to understand the profound connection between body, awareness, emotional wellbeing, and inner transformation.

Her Work

Ying has taught yoga professionally and facilitated embodied and expressive movement workshops in community and wellness settings. She regularly offers sound bath experiences at The Pearl Laguna and the University of California, Irvine.

In addition to her full-time work in student wellness at the University of California, Irvine, she continues to cultivate Wisdom Flower as a contemplative space for movement, sound, mindfulness, and embodied wellbeing.
